John Lofgren Engineer Boots
Thee iconic Engineer Boot has been interpretated in diverse styles since the 1940's when they were originally made as a shin protecting work boot. There are huge variations in style, period correctness, use of materials and intended purpose from a lot of the current offerings. I'm bound to be biased, of course I am, but after trying and handling a variety of Engineer Boots over the past few years of varying quality and style, I can honestly say the John Lofgren engineers are amongst the finest in the world today.
The original lasts used are very shapely, have a nice slim waist (instep area) with a sleek rounded toe and if sized correctly, are very comfortably snug throughout the foot with enough wiggle room in the toe box. They have a padded footbed for extra comfort, well sized ankle straps for keeping heel slip to a minimum, great height to the heel and the width of the shaft is well balanced so as not to make it impossible to get your more tapered denims on.
The construction is superb! The stitching, as carried out by the fastidious artisans of Japan, is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped. The overall finish (including the sole trim) is very nicely done and considering the materials and amount of heavy leather used, the weight is suprisingly light, making them very comfortable for all day wear.
It can be quite difficult to decide your correct size when ordering shoes & boots online, particularly when they are sized and made in different countries. Please use the information below to help guide you in your choice:

Resole and Rebuild:
John Lofgren boots, soles and heels are very hardwearing but there will come a time when they need replacing. They are Goodyear welted which means they can be resoled and heeled a good few times before the welt needs to be replaced, ensuring years of wear. There are a number of shoe/ boot repairers in the UK and Europe that can resole Goodyear welted shoes/ boots to a very high standard.
